Lindsey Kovach

is a flutist based in the Lexington, Kentucky area. She is a recent graduate of the University of Kentucky where she studied Music Education and Flute Performance under the instruction of Dr. Julie Hobbs. At the University of Kentucky, she has performed as the principal flutist of the Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra. She has also enjoyed performances opportunities such as playing in the pit orchestra for the UK Opera Theatre production of “La Boheme” and traveling to New York City to perform in Carnegie Hall with the UK Wind Symphony in 2019.


Throughout her collegiate career, Lindsey has had the honor of performing in masterclasses for Jim Walker, Leone Buyse, Alberto Almarza, Eva Amsler, and Lorna McGhee. She has attended summer programs such as Jim Walker’s “Beyond the Masterclass” and The Consummate Flutist at Carnegie Mellon University. In 2019, she was named the first chair of the Kentucky Music Educator’s Association Intercollegiate Band. In 2021, Lindsey was selected to perform in the National Intercollegiate Band in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Most recently, Lindsey was named a winner of the National Flute Association’s Collegiate Flute Choir Competition and performed at the 2022 NFA Convention in Chicago, Illinois.

In addition to her studies, she enjoys teaching flute lessons. She has worked as the applied flute instructor for the Pikeville Independent School District and currently teaches at the Central Music Academy in Lexington, Kentucky. As a passionate music educator, she also enjoys completing research in the education field. In 2021, she was accepted to present at the Midwestern Educational Research Association Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio for her paper titled "Removing the Social Class Barriers in American Public School Music Education".


Lindsey is proud to have served as President of the Eta Zeta chapter of Tau Beta Sigma. Lindsey is also a member of Sigma Alpha Iota and is a recipient of the Collegiate Sword of Honor Award. Following graduation in December, she looks forward to attending graduate school to pursue a career in both flute performance and education.



Flute Lessons

I offer in-person flute lessons in the Central Kentucky area and virtual lessons for students from all areas. I focus on offering an individualized approach to help my students reach their goals. Whether you want to prepare for an audition or learn how to play for enjoyment, I’m here to provide instruction and support. Private flute lessons can also be a wonderful way to supplement school music classes and become a more confident musician.


Each prospective student is eligible for one free half-hour trial lesson. This can be a great way to see if flute lessons are right for you. Please contact me at lindseykovachflute@gmail.com if you are interested.
